You may even be an atheist or an agnostic. That's fine, too;
it matters not to "Liberals Like Christ". You don't have to be a "Christian"
to relate to this website. If you are a Liberal who, like us,
believes that every little girl or boy born into this world is entitled
to a fair shake until the day they die, and especially if you despise
what the so-called Christian "Religious Right" represents, then sister,
or brother, you are about to learn how vulnerable this phoney
front of the Republican Party really is and how their undoing
-- and that of the "Greedy Old Party" as well -- may come
from a very surprising source! Sadly, many non-Christian Liberals make the same mistake that Hitler's troops made in their Russian campaign. As those troops invaded Russia, they burned and pillaged every village they came upon on their way to Moscow, thereby making mortal enemies of millions of peasants and common laborers. If only they had only talked a little with these people, they would have learned that far from identifying with their communist dictators, most of these people hated Stalin and his Communist dictatorship, and would have welcomed and supported the German invaders as "liberators" and allies, if only this invading army had acted the part. And so, our liberal friends, don't assume that all Christians are the enemy! Many of us detest the "Religious Right" even more than you do, because these fanatics are not only threatening our country, but our religion as well. Liberals need to recognize that there are Progressive Christians, and that such Christians can and should be among your most effective allies! It is important to understand why you see and hear so much more about the Christian Right than the Christian Left. It is simply because the Right is allied with the wealthy Conservatives of the world, while the Christian Left is allied with the poor, the powerless and the downtrodden. While Liberals are concerned about ideas, and tend to fight amongst themselves over what they perceive to be the tiniest of "flaws" in the thinking of their friends as well as their foes, Conservatives don't let ideas get in the way of their concerns about preserving and enhancing the status of whites over "coloreds", males over females, straights over gays, long-time (mostly European) immigrants over recent or prospective immigrants, Christians over non-Christians, rich over poor, corporate over labor. Conservatives can and do work with anybody who can further their agenda ( including even Liberals on occasion ). While Conservatives and their friends own most of the mass media of communications, all that is left for us Liberals are the crumbs of communication, including web sites like this one dependent mostly on word of mouth for circulation. We may never be heard, if Progressives like you don't help us get the word out, via the WWW, by word of mouth, by newsletters and the like. Are you one of the many people who have a great deal of respect for the views of Thomas Jefferson? If so, then you may be familiar with his unique version of the Gospels of Jesus of Nazareth, which was published after his death as : The Life and Morals of Jesus"

In his "Age of Reason", he wrote: "Nothing that is here said can apply, even with the most distant disrespect, to the real character of Jesus Christ. He was a virtuous and an amiable man. The morality that he preached and practised was of the most benevolent kind; and though similar systems of morality had been preached by Confucius, and by some of the Greek philosophers, many years before; by the Quakers since; and by many good men in all ages, it has not been exceeded by any. " This website was designed to do precisely what Jefferson tried to do in print because the need is greater than ever for "rescuing the Philosophy of Jesus and the "pure principles which he taught," from the "artificial vestments in which they have been muffled by priests, (i.e. Religious Right) who have travestied them into various forms as instruments of riches and power for themselves" (and their Greedy Old Party partners). If you will only follow us for a few minutes, you are going to be astonished at how Liberal Christians would be if -- instead of being misled by so many phoney "Evangelical" or "Fundamentalist" tools of this country's Conservative fat cats, -- Christians knew their Bible's more important passages and followed the actual teaching and example of Jesus, the leader they claim to believe in. At this point, may we recommend that you try viewing our Now, Liberals Like Christ invite you to come along and eavesdrop on a powerful series of pages that we have designed to challenge so-called "Conservative Christians" to face the fact that it is virtually impossible to believe what Jesus Christ taught AND be Conservative in America today. Rather, one must make a choice between being either self-centered (and Conservative), OR community-directed (and Christian). I swear that I am not inviting you to read these many of passages of the Bible in the hope of converting anyone to Christianity. What we are striving to achieve is to alert good Liberals like yourself to the tremendous opportunity that lies hidden in the terrible success of the "Religious Reicht". The vast majority of those who follow and support the insincere leaders of this movement are inherently good -- if temporarily misguided -- Americans. They are devoting their time, money and energies to what they have been led to believe are good and holy causes. What we propose to do is to reach as many of these innocent victims as possible and show them how out of step they are with the very founder and leader of Christianity whom they want to believe in and follow, Jesus of Nazareth. They will then understand that to follow Christ in America these days is to be a very dedicated and activist Liberal! Regardless of what you believe personally, if you get to know these pages, and you will be in a position to get "Conservative" Christians to to stop attributing so many of the ideas and policies which we Liberals espouse to Karl Marx, and to start recognizing them as the teaching of the very Bible and Master in whom they profess to believe!
